Wow what happened to October?
We were so busy... we just blinked and that was October gone!
We had a few BIG EVENTS in October, like The OXJAM NORTHAMPTON TAKEOVER. & The Young Black Achievers Awards
What an event was The Oxjam Northampton Takeover, a fully blown, multi venue, Music Festival which spread across loads of different venues, featuring tens of Northampton's most talented live bands and artists from various genres from Rock, to Raggae, Metal to Punk and Soul and Funk with Acoustic solo's and duo's to full eitht and nine piece bands like SoulMoFunk.
SoulMoFunk & The Honeyz, the female front line of SoulMoFunk performed on Saturday 17th October at the largest venue in the OXJAM Northampton Takeover at The Barratt's. With a full 6m x 4m raised stage, SoulMoFunk Band provided the shared PA, Mixing desk and Lighting all controlled remotely via iPad.
OXJAM proved to be a great showcase for bands, in fact SoulMoFunk picked up six maybe seven live gigs from various venues, agents and a private birthday party. The event was well supported with pre ticket sales and on the the door payment made to rase charity funds for Oxfam which was well worth supporting as all bands gave their time and performance free of charge to support the Oxfam Charity Organisation.
During October our friend and bass player Ozzie the Gent decided the band thing was just too much and hung up his boots, we were very sad to learn Ozzie 'The Gent' had parked up his large Trace Elliot Bass Amp for the last time, as he took a well earned holiday.

SoulMoFunk then followed up with a performance in front of the Mayor's of Northampton and Rushden and the High Sheriff of Northampton and various counsellors and police chiefs at the beautiful Guildhall in Northampton within the Town Hall.
Held on Saturday 31st October, the event location was stunningly beautiful with high gabled ceilings, balustrades, balconies and marble floors which caused the band some sound issues with all their set. As with any large, hard surface venues, the sound is amplified and echoey.
Also on Saturday 21st October was our first night with our new and lovely bass player Andy.
Andy joined the band and has quickly slotted in just right, welcome to our new friend 'Mr AG'
So now we are in November in the run up to Christmas and if anything the pace of gigs is getting faster with more and more gigs planned and to conduct.
There were Fireworks galore at this years Northampton Fireworks Display which took place on the Racecourse on Thursday 5th November. SoulMoFunk did a live performance within the Umbrella Fair's private Marquee on the Pavilion Lawns in the gardens of the Pavilion.
On the same evening the band said farewell to the one and only Briony P, lead vocalist of 'The Honeyz' who is returning home to Zimbabwe for a couple of months running over the Christmas break to see family and friends. Briony P will be very missed not just for her superb vocals, but because she is just so lovely and part of the SoulMoFunk family so to speak.
This Saturday 14th November we embark on our first gig at Aspers Casino in Northampton working with PGi Entertainments and the famous local DJ Paddy Grady who also appears on Inspiration FM in Northampton. It promises to be a great night of Soul, Motown and a little Funk provided by a number of well known DJ's, revisiting the 60's, 70's & 80's with a great set list line up. SoulMoFunk will perform a late set at 11pm but the night concludes at 1am.
Next Friday the 20th November, SoulMoFunk Band and The Honeyz peform live at The Radsion Park Inn Hotel in Northampton for NHS Foundation Trust Staff Christmas Party. We are really looking forward to this one with a large stage and massive function suite, SoulMoFunk will blast out a funky set and get the dance floor filled with groovers.
Saturday, the 21st November see's SoulMoFunk Band head off to Leamington Spa, for the launch night after party at The all new Bourbon Smoke House with the very popular Altoria Entertainment complex in the centre of Leamington. With a new fully refurbished Bourbon theme, Smoke House Restaurant being launched with a building housing two night clubs, one with an roof terrace and garden. This will prove to be a big night for SoulMoFunk as the band will be a resident feature of the group of entertainment centres around the Midland's area.
The next major event for the band will be SOULVIT, one of the Midlands leading, popular Soul Nights hosted by Matty SoulBoy from Inspiration FM Northampton held on Saturday 4th December 2015. All of Matty's previous event nights have been hugely attended and this is no different with presales of VIP diners almost doubling to just short of 200 alone, that's without the ticket only revelers and the on the door latecomers. SOULVIT is on gig that the band boyz and girlz like 'The Honeyz' are so looking forward too.
